IKEA warranty
IKEA gives at least 2 years of warranty on all products, starting on the day of purchase. For many product groups it’s much longer, up to 25 years for METOD kitchens. Your receipt is your proof of warranty.

How long is the warranty?
- All products: at least 2 years. A repair or replacement under warranty doesn’t extend the period.
- Kitchens: 25 years on METOD, and on FAKTUM bought from 1 September 2007.
- Mattresses and PAX/KOMPLEMENT: 10 years on material and manufacturing defects.
- Kitchen appliances: 5 years (2 years for TILLREDA and LAGAN built-in appliances).
- Bathroom furniture, washbasins and mixer taps: 10 years on the series listed.
- Sofas and armchairs: 10 years on frames and cushions. The exact list per product is on IKEA’s page.
How to claim warranty
- Report your complaint within 2 months of noticing the problem, unless you have a good reason to report it later.
- Contact IKEA customer service. For kitchens and FAKTUM, IKEA explicitly recommends this.
IKEA’s website and customer service are in Dutch. Where a menu or button is named, the English meaning is in brackets.
What do you need?
- Your receipt (an online receipt works too), or other proof of where and when you bought the product.

What isn’t covered?
- Normal wear and tear and normal ageing.
- Use that isn’t normal household use (for most product groups).
Good to know
- For a mattress you also get 90 days to decide whether you’re happy with it.
- The terms from the day you bought it apply. They can change later.
- Floors and SKYTTA have separate warranty brochures.
Your legal rights (Dutch law)
- In the Netherlands there is no fixed legal warranty period. How long a product has to last depends on the type of product, the price and what the seller promised.
- Within 12 months of purchase, the seller has to prove that a problem was caused by you. After that, you have to show that the product is at fault.
- If something is defective, the seller has to come up with a solution: free repair, a new product or your money back. Normal wear and tear and damage you caused yourself are not covered.
